Dr. Kelly has taken over Chiropractic Care Center and has been taking care of both Dr. Turner's and Dr. Zavacki's patients since early 2017. Dr. Kelly's practice focuses on spinal rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, diet, weight loss and nutritional response testing for dietary sensitivities and allergies. Dr. Kelly has been in Chiropractic practice for 41 years.
Most recently, Dr. Kelly ran his practice in Port Townsend, Washington (2003-2010). He moved back to San Diego in 2013, where he did temporary relief work for other Chiropractors in Alaska, California, and Washington up until February 2017.
Dr. Kelly served in the U.S. Army from 1968 through 1970. He served two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970. Immediately after discharge, he attended Los Angeles Valley Community College and then California State University, Long Beach. Shortly after, he attended Cleveland Chiropractic College from 1974 through 1977 and graduated first in his class with a Summa Cum Laude Academic Honors, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree.
In 1978, Dr. Kelly opened his first Chiropractic clinic in San Clemente, California. One year after, he became an official staff Chiropractor for the San Onofre power plant construction team. Within four years he owned and operated three clinics. One each in San Clemente, Oceanside and Lake Havasu City Arizona.
On June 4, 1982, Dr. Kelly suffered multiple spinal fractures in a fall from a roof. This injury necessitated selling all three practices. In 1984 he enrolled in medical school and began taking classes at The American University on the Island of Montserrat. After two years, he transferred to University College Dublin in Ireland. In 1987, he had to leave medical school due to a severe illness in his wife, never to return to medical school.
Since that time, he has owned and operated Chiropractic practices in both California and Washington state. In addition, Dr. Kelly has also taken extensive postgraduate courses in Family Practice and Internal Disorders at Northwestern College. In 2002 he was awarded a Qualified Medical Evaluator Certificate from the State of California.
His outside interests range far and wide. He holds a commercial pilot's certificate as well as certified flight instructor's certificate. His favorite extra-professional hobby is custom furniture making and design.
